Former Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who is lodged in Deoria Jail in connection with a fraud case, received significant relief on Monday after the District Judge’s court granted him bail.
However, the court rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by his wife and co-accused, Nutan Thakur, in the same case.

According to District Government Counsel (Criminal) Rajesh Mishra, the bail application of Amitabh Thakur was heard by the District Judge’s court on Monday.
After considering the arguments and submissions made by both the prosecution and the defence, the court allowed the bail plea and directed Thakur to furnish two sureties of ₹1 lakh each.
At the same time, the court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by Nutan Thakur. Following the rejection, she now has the option to approach the High Court or surrender before the trial court in the matter.
The DGC (Criminal) further stated that despite being granted bail in the Deoria fraud case, Amitabh Thakur’s legal troubles are far from over.
He noted that another case has been registered against Thakur in Lucknow, and a “B warrant” issued by a court there has already been served at Deoria Jail.
As a result, even after securing bail in the Deoria case, his immediate release from jail may not be possible.
